StoryWork Consultation Groups
It’s just plain wrong for you to want to engage another person’s story and not have the know-how to do it.
Most people feel like they don’t know how to engage another person’s story well. They feel inadequate, inept, clumsy, overwhelmed, and/or they don’t know what to say and what not to say.
The good news is that engaging another person’s story is a skill that can be learned. To that end, I offer story-based consultation groups. These groups are designed to enable you to “catch” the art of effective story engagement.
Time: 75 minutes
Format: Participants will take turns writing and reading one of their own stories of harm/tragedy/heartache/trauma. I will engage the storyteller’s story for 60 minutes, followed by a 15 minute “debrief time.” The purpose of the debrief time is to teach group members about the art and science of effective story engagement. Group members will have the opportunity to ask me questions about why I did what I did during the story engagement. All groups take place via Zoom.
Frequency: Groups meet every other week.
Group Size: 4-6 participants, plus me.
